Environmental Defense
I worked on this project from 2000-2002 while working with the firm Envision Design, which later merged with Perkins + Will in Washington, DC. This environmental organization had outgrown its current space in their Washington, DC office and required a more sustainable alternative to typical office design. Relocated to another floor into the same building, the new space incorporated sustainable materials and lighting. Furnishings from the previous office were reused and new furnishings and finishes were selected to reflect the environmentally conscience ideals of the client. All offices and workstations were designed to allow a view of the outside. The combination of these items along with access to several forms of public transportation allowed a LEED certification. This project was designed early in the development of LEED and helped me learn more about using sustainable ideas and materials in projects.
